He is doing, as fast as it is possible to go. People (numpties) still thinking that Brexit can somehow be reversed are, well, numpties & away with the faeries. Silly sods frankly. Starmer fought it tooth & nail. He hasn't changed. Objective reality has intervened. He'll take us back tin the end.
It's noticeable that in all the media coverage of the current fiscal diffIculties the media shy away from mentioning the clear root cause. We are never going to start fixing the mess until there is some honesty.
The BBC is clearly scared of such people. Whether that is just a worry about support for the licence fee long term, or whether it's a genuine fear for the physical safety of presenters I dont know.
Oh I see. So they go more right to appease more the the far right people, but by this action they encourage even more far right people, who are becoming more and more fearless because even the BBC sees nothing wrong with the far right.
Starmer’s Govt has already alienated swathes of his supporters, for little benefit. Why not go the whole hog and at least take the first steps to rejoin the customs union and give SMEs a better future?
But will Starmer. He mistakenly thinks he can ride two or three horses and be important to the US, Israel and the EU . In reality they don’t need his friendship as long as he is subservient.
With the terrible twosome Trump-Musk coming in we really need to be much closer to our European allies. Surely Starmer must see this - keep thinking he will make some positive move but he just doesn’t 🤷🏻♀️
Then you’ll know that Labour have been constantly building the relationship with the EU, and that we’re waiting on them to address the deficiencies of the TCA.
Further you’ll know that there is nothing else we can do currently.
I can't figure out the Labour Party anymore. How is the UK supposed to find its role in the coming years, sitting between two stools, when the geopolitical framework is undergoing massive change?
Sitting out has little to do with shaping.
We have no power in either direction. We are waiting for the EU to set the timetable for the TCA negotiations. We aren’t politically in a position to rejoin anything.
He needs to take a more active approach to this issue, make the appropriate contact to the EU, stop putting obstacles in the way of a rapid return. We have no time to lose, this insane position is costing the country serious money!
He has made the appropriate contact with the EU, have you seen the number of trips he’s made?
He’s not putting obstacles in the way of anything, nor is a “rapid return” possible.
We obviously have a different perspective on his action …time will tell who is right. I would love to believe you are right but what I have seen does not give me confidence in what you say.
His actions and direction aren’t being represented fairly (or at all). It’s clearly stated in the manifesto and repeated speeches that Labour want a closer relationship with the EU.
What's your plan? We can apply to join the EU which will take years. All we can do now, which is what Labour is doing is mend fencec and get a few easy fixes. We're living in the world as it is not the world we'd like it to be. Just saying rejoin etc is unrealistic, it's not our decision.
There were rumblings from people like Verhofstadt et al if a potential fast track… but the rest of them would need assurances I think. Sincerity, will to do it properly this time, certain reforms perhaps. Besides, we wink know how long or how hard until we
There's no way we're going to apply to join the EU within this parliamentary term, there's no mandate for it and it'd be electoral suicide. Just because polls show a majority think Brexit is a mistake it doesn't mean there's a majority to start the process to join. It's pie in the sky thinking.
Sadly correct, no argument from me for that one. That was only going to happen if we got a lib dem led or coalition government.
I do t think it would be a sui at all if done right btw, but it is the heffalump trap some have fallen into believing it is. That’s my view at least
Not sure even the Lib Dems support joining atm. Our first option will be EEA and EFTA but that's not a given, none of this will happen in this parliamentary term. Something as damaging as Brexit can't be overturned quickly, the EU27 will need guarantees Farage et al are gone before they let us back.
Maybe you think 'it will take decades' or 'they won't want us back' or 'petitions don't work', but if you believe deep down that our future lies within our closest trading block why not sign this anyway! You never know. If you don't ask you don't get. http://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/700005

Whatever happened to 'honesty' in public policy and public discourse?
Do you see where I'm going with this?
Further you’ll know that there is nothing else we can do currently.
Sitting out has little to do with shaping.
What are you expecting them to do?
How do we force them to let us back into the EU?
He’s not putting obstacles in the way of anything, nor is a “rapid return” possible.
Try!
