Not a pundit or columnist-cum-journalist, but I reckon the Treaty Principles Bill will go down in history as the moment a far right party & its parliamentary allies misread the people, cynically played the race card, and lost. BIG TIME.

Let's see. Brash was using it as a stepping stone to a Citizens Initiated Referendum. He has said this in interviews. The whole strategy, of whipping up fury, is working exactly the way he wanted. He and Seymour will be absolutely delighted the way Luxon has played into it so well.
Honestly, if a senior minister from the last Govt (a deputy PM, no less!) had presided over two fuck-ups as deep & unpopular as Seymour has (TPB, school lunches), they would be labeled as 'embattled' and subjected to daily "will you resign...?" questions from the Gallery.
Just imagine the column cm!
