Yes, because Israel has such a great history of giving its "buffer zones" back. 🙄
It just took entire towns from people who just got through suffering from Assad. People who weren't doing jack to Israel. Nobody was attacking Golan, *which is Syria's territory anyway*.
Unlike the north, the rebellion in the south *hardly even existed a week ago*. It's normal people who rose up. The only organized group "in the south" is the FSA militias around al-Tanf checkpoint, and *they're partners to the US*, supporting security around the base.
You're talking about HTS, which is in the *north*, and has nothing to do with the *homes they're taking from people who weren't attacking them*. HTS was denounced by - and the target of assassinations by - al-Qaeda. Its arch-enemies are Iran, Hezbollah, and ISIS. It has fought *very* clean this war.
Considering how many attacks originated from around the Golan, it makes sense that Israel never gave it back. It might be worth it if there is a guarantee of peace with a UN presence. Else I don’t see Syria getting it back.
The quickest way to new civil war is for Syria to make that their priority.
Yes, there were attacks into Golan from Syria, *by Hezbollah*. The regime-supporting militia that the rebels *just defeated in Syria*.
Furthermore, Israel took Golan as a "buffer zone". Then settled it. So it's no longer a buffer zone. So they're taking a new "buffer zone". Gee, I wonder what next?
Israel had a potential *ally* on its border. People who despise Hezbollah and Iran, for propping up the brutal dictator who has been torturing and murdering them for decades. And instead they go and *bomb and steal from them*. Entirely unprovoked.
Maybe the Kurds and Druze are potential allies. The ex isis/al-qaeda remnants would have to prove it. Not a good track record in tolerating a Jeeish state.

Basically they need to see who is in charge
