I buy a lot of books from charity shops (and occasional Used Books shops), and have a sort out once a year and return most of them to mentioned charity shops. A great way to recycle.
I just returned from a trip to my local Indie bookstore. Got books for 2 five year olds and seven year old.
Auntie SJS gives books.
When they get bored with the other toys, they sit down and read the books. Or get an auntie or Nana to read to them.
My plot to help them be readers of books!
That’s my hope!
I love it when I get books as presents - they last for a good long while. And they stay around, can be shared, talked about, and make great companions.
Every year our Rotary Society has their annual book sale right before Christmas. It is a tradition that I'll go there and stock up on books. It is for a good cause and I get a new stash. I usually just put the bag by the tree.
Would love to. We used to have one locally and the man who owned it was passionate about books. Sadly competition from big book companies moved in to town and effectively forced him to close. He didn’t cope with it and sadly took his own life, a life of books. Actions have consequences.
