As someone who worked for bail reform and who was met with this exact argument, e.g. “What if you let them out to await trial and they commit a crime?” It’s hard to watch this kind of stuff happen with absolutely no political repercussions.

A Jan. 6 rioter pardoned by Trump has been arrested on an outstanding charge of soliciting a minor, more than two weeks after he was freed from prison. Andrew Taake, a 36-year-old Texan, is accused of sending sexually explicit messages in 2016 to an undercover police officer who posed as a teenager.
