Even as a locked-in Nids fan, it’s hard to ignore the way my neurons activated seeing that Astartes II trailer. I caught myself making a color scheme for a homebrew White Scars successor chapter that hunts & eats xenos to read their brains, it may be too late for me.

I think the most frustrating part of the lack of xenos lore is that such stories tends to make Space Marines ten times more interesting in the process. Twice-Dead King did a great job showcasing both the terror of a human fleet and the insanity Astartes are willing to pull for the mission

I am a outsider from the fandom , but from the few stuff i have seen , the space marines are considered cooler because it is not being shown enough how the non-humans can also be cool as hell. It is always a space marine variant i see always when i hear about 40k

They introduced a sick-ass new Space Marine character, a walking tank with vast psychic power wielding a cool axe, and are still willing to let him get annihilated by an even bigger psychic buglord, because they understood the assignment was to convey the severity of the Tyranid threat

It's an intensely *messy* faction probably due to their history - the kroot were to be a separate faction at one point - and all the Asian trappings feel like leftover ideas from eldar lore. I seriously think the modern primaris intercessor helmet looks more like a Gundam than anything tau does.

Kroot have Thai Cambodian names and get along with the 80's hollywood Japanese Tau, so GW is consistent with Xenos as broadly Space Asians.

I'm just glad that space marines can be used as a catch-all hook to get people engaging with the universe, even if just at a surface level. Like yeah there's a bunch of intricate, complicated lore there, but you don't have to worry about that right now. Load your bolter. There's Orkses to kill.
