I had an interesting relationship with the first walking dead. I was actually great friends with Kenny because, as my first "modern" telltale game (not sam and max) I thought my choices mattered and I played like an ASSHOLE. I took that unlocked car full of supplies. The shame hoodie was worn.

So basically every hard hitting "this is because you were an asshole" moment hit like a truck. Of course looking back the game basically makes every choice for you. the stage magician of telltale games had me hook line and sinker.

The Telltale games kinda condition you to kill at every opportunity, because it doesn't impact the ending and the chosen death is usually way more impactful than whatever random event removes that character from the plot later

Yeah the telltale TWD story having such a heavy emphasis on player choice and consequence really lost a lot of its impact when you realise there's basically no choice to be found in the game. Very much a victim of its own format, it's like they weren't expecting anyone to replay them
