at my job you can only really qualify for health care if you're a manager or you work for 30+ hrs/week..anyone working less than 30 hrs don't get anything. and those who work less than 30 here are primarily mechanics and facility workers (aka employees who get injured the most here)
i've had instances of almost breaking my back near the pelvis area (like DIRECTLY near the bottom of my spine) and almost popping it at one point from how much work i do to take care of the place. but i guess i don't need healthcare according to my job bc i only work less than 30/week 😭
Capitalism has poisoned our minds so badly, we can't see any other way, even while there are endless examples throughout the history of society living happily without it. It sees humans ONLY value as workers. Fuck late stage capitalism. It'll be the ruin of us all 🤷
Worse, you often only get it if you work 'full time'. Part-time almost never gets you benefits, and since a lot of places view full time as '40 hours a week' they'll sometimes schedule you for 30-35/week so it's practically like 40hrs, just without the chance to avoid destructive medical debt 🥲
And it is often the people who cannot work full time who need health care the most. It's diabolical. If another country had health care as bad as America they'd be bombing them to "liberate" them from it.

And even when you do get insurance through work, it's not free. You have to pay (A LOT) for it monthly, which further burdens everyone financially.
