I did a whole talk about this for the Audio Drama Convention run by podcastbookclub. The problem isn't that the community doesn't like BIPOC characters or actors, it's that many don't try to seek them out. Many simply go with what's presented to them, and those are often White Male driven shows.

This isn't about whether the community is "welcoming", because it Is, it's about the fact that people do not consume or cast their content with the sort of intentionality required to foster actual diversity within the space. in AP, people have become very intentional about diversifying their tables.
