The statistics only tell you a small part of the story, and should never be viewed out of context.

The U6 statistics do tell you that part of the story, but the story they tell is that underemployment rate closely follows unemployment rate. Case in point: our current underemloyment rate is basically the same as it was pre-covid, and it's very low historically.

U3 and U6 are directly tied to each other. Like they are basically just lines shifted up and down. If you wanna use U6, fine -- but you can't turn around and use it to say that 2023 and 2024 represented worse years than any in the past decades.
