Toulouse, Place de Capitole. It now has a market several days a week, although there is a car park underneath they have generally restricted car access to the whole area.
Malostranské náměstí (Prague), the first three are the lower part that is without cars for a while now. The last one is the upper part which is still a parking lot.
I've noticed in several towns here in Finland that the market plaza has been turned car free, but they dig a car park under it. Often called "toriparkki" (plaza-parking) still causes the usual traffic issues further around it but lets people walk around the center. Little bit of a double edged sword
It depends what you consider as the alternative. One is to not spend 30M on digging a hole, but still making street walking only. That has its own problems ofc.
I know the center benefits from people coming from further away, but it also incentives local people to drive there causing more traffic.
