I find that it adds a bit of extra flare to your book, but it's not mandatory.

Chapter titles obviously are useful and necessary in nonfiction, but they're really not necessary in fiction - though sometimes there is a cleverness to the chapter title that works.

Most of mine thus far have basically just been placeholder titles that describe whats happening in the chapter.

"Reconciliation." Useful for me, not so much for the reader I don't think.

I prefer chapter titles. They show me that a writer took the time and forethought to create them, and a well-crafted title can be as good as a cliffhanger at the end of the previous chapter.
