I think collecting comics is stupid.
Floppies aren't made to last for more than one read through.
They begin breaking down as soon as they're printed.
Its a futile task that perpetuates a wasteful practice in the industry.

Every comic shop has a backroom dedicated to long boxes full of issues they cannot even give away because nobody wants a scarlet witch # 7 from 10 years ago without the previous 6 issues.
Print the first issue as a flopp as a promotional means for the TPB, and ONLY the first issue.
People will buy the floppy before committing to the pricier book, and there won't be a billion unsellable copies of disconnected arcs floating around in shops.

Collecting anything is personal and as long as it doesn't harm anyone then it is fine

Its less an issue with individual collectors and more a criticism of the comics industry as a whole.
The sales model of floppies creates an incredible amount of waste and actually harms a lot of small comic shops.
But collecting omnibuses or other collector books wouldn't produce any more waste than any other comparable book
I don't have any qualms with collecting books in general.
