I tend to lean new releases, but only because I’m a mood reader and I specifically read mostly queer stories, so that typically means a trip to the bookstore when nothing on my tbr shelves is sounding good to me.

They really are! I remember when most new books were $7.99! I limit myself to 1-2 new books per paycheck, which makes for a nice outing to the bookstore. I can get myself some tea, wander around and pick out a few things, and read the first chapter or two of each before picking which one I will get.

That’s super smart, I hate reading synopsis so i always up up just buying my books off the “vibe” lol, reading a few pages before buying is something I never even thought about till now 🤣

If it’s a stand alone I will prioritize it if I’m interested but if it’s book 1 of a series I hold off because I like to binge series not wait between each book.

There's no rhyme or reason to my reading order and something being on my TBR has never saved it from being passed up for a book I just heard about ten minutes ago ☺️. But I do avoid classics like the plague

I hardly pay attention to new releases tbh! And I rarely buy them, mainly because I don't like hardcovers haha. But when I hear of them, I add them to my tbr, but prioritize other titles first!

I just don't prefer them 😅 the dust jackets, the size, they're too stiff, and the binding can break so easily! But mostly they're expensive 😆
