It’s hard to believe you’d actually take us. Basically, there needs to be a trade agreement exclusively between regions, creating a better version of NAFTA based on local, aligned economies that share values, not just borders.
States making treaties or trade agreements with foreign entities breaks Article 1, Section 10 of the constitution. The supreme court is more vibes than law at this point...
Definitely felon47 is envious of the acclaim Jesus deservedly gets, but MAGAchurch ministers are sycophantically helping him win them over to his side, the Other Side from Jesus’. Absolutely fitting to call him an antichrist, ‘other messiah’.
I mean, definitely we’d be called Canada. We Canadians are kind of attached to the name as it is. Democratic states are welcome to join us - no guns though!
PROCESS: To APPLY as a CANADIAN PROVINCE, work through State legislatures/ballot referenda for UN recognition. Contiguous supermajority progressive-voting States may be accepted if you shed enough MAGA voters.
I think it would be called "Canada" and not the "United States of Canada."
The US states need to be admitted to Canada as probationary territories - let's see how they adjust to parliamentary democracy, universal healthcare, and gun control.
Once they prove themselves, they can become provinces.
No fair rejecting Colorado, just because they're surrounded by idiots. Also, good luck getting Pennsylvania into Canada! You might get Philly and parts of Pittsburgh, but there's a lot of blue collar folks who are die hard Republicans, even in some of the cities. The state turned reder since 2020.
Okay, but just so you know , NO GUNS, we have tough laws about owning and using, no weapons except small pocket knives, and our free speech laws make racist, bigoted or discriminatory language illegal here. Plus we have many political parties to chose from
and a functioning federal government.
Yet NM woted all blue, as did the north east and the southern tip of texas. Meanwhile only the coastal areas of california voted blue. There are pockets of blue and red throughout the country no matter what state you are in.
Love you guys but the response to your domestic turmoil isn't adding an extension to our house and moving in. You created this mess you gotta sort this out
Agreed. We are a mess here, as everyone can see. Many of us are trying hard to fix this shit show, while others thing it’s just fine. We can’t wait for those fools to figure out they’re been had.
Why wasn’t Maryland included in the US of Canada? What about DC? DC isn’t a state but they are solidly blue. That’s part of why trump is gutting the fed govt. Maybe you can’t get DC since trump is currently holding it hostage?
Keep up the good fight. People who choose not understand nor respect how hard marginalized people work to fight the gerrymandering, voter disenfranchisement and state violence in red states aren't the majority and certainly were never going to aid in your efforts. Ignore them. We got you.
Thank you! Being a Democrat in a red state for one year has not been easy. I’ve been volunteering for voting rights, supporting democratic candidates, and getting involved with my local Dem Party, etc. while worrying that my home and vehicle will be targeted. It’s not easy!
I'm in a blue state. My mother lives in a very pro-Trump area of it. She has to watch what she says, the threat of violence is always there. It's easy to judge from relative safety. We need blue dots in red states!
Third-ed! Same team! Blue Texan (so literally after *waves hands* all this) here!
Hmm… can we maybe halve the red states? They can go somewhere and do the Cheeto cult thing and enjoy wall building and we go not there and enjoy life? 🤔
I’m also in Tennessee. And as we know, our state has already been living the nightmare of authoritarian control for years now. Our state legislature puts the Kremlin to shame.
I live in a blue island in a red state, and I'd leave in a heartbeat if this happened. I would go back home. I used to think we might survive, but not now. now we are the front lines of this tragic moment.
I get it. Sadly, I think we’re all going to suffer from the actions of this administration, no matter where we live. While most days I really feel like running back to my blue home state, I’m going to stay here and fight. I almost feel like I have to.
I don't like what's happening and I believe in community. But I also believe in higher ground. I went thru katrina, and I don't want to go thru that again. Snow is a signal to start thinking git!
I go back and forth. I watched what they did back home. Landry just showed us here for stupid bowl. I am at retirement age, I protest thru purchasing and supporting those moving forward, but with age comes less physical protest. I went to the women's March last time. This time? No
It's a wildly privileged take to tell someone to move. Also, most blue states aren't true blue. For example, Illinois has 33 counties wanting to secede. It's a deeply complex issue and alienating people fighting for the good of all, especially if they're in red states, won't help.
I'm advocating boycotting red state products as dialogue in my opinion hasn't worked and won't work. Consequences have actions. Just my two cents. At some point people in red states need to take some responsibility. If boycotting KY whiskey hurts some who didn't vote for Trump, that's unfortunate
I get your red state anger, but I recognize that me being an Alabama liberal and relocating to Chicago didn’t do anything to cull the MAGA movement. I don’t know why moving to a blue state would garner your sympathy and not someone trapped bc they’re unable to afford the move, like so many I know.
It's not cruel. It's reality. Stop playing victim and maybe go out and volunteer and try to change things. My ire is directed at red states where the overwhelming majority supported a felon and con man. Sorry to those who didn't vote for him but that's the reality.
You are actively harming efforts to improve things and fight back. Disdain might feel good, but it prevents progress. If you can’t let it go, just get out of the way.
The true naïveté is thinking that being mean to people on the internet actually accomplishes anything in the fight against fascism. It’s confusing catharsis for activism.
It’s a demonstrated fact that we see all the time in political campaigns. Understanding this has helped me win actual political campaigns. Boycott who you like, but when you are talking down to people who are actually doing work on the ground to change things, you are in the way of positive change.
Not everyone in red states are voting with the lemmings. We’re already on our own. But until the lemmings see that the MAGA Party doesn’t give a damn about them, & that they are only throwing them scraps every now & then, nothing will change for us. We have to keep trying to show them the light.
Agree. One way they may see the light is to understand actions have consequences. Elect members of Congress who blindly support Trump and Canadians and even blue state folks won't buy TN and KY whiskey. I'll buy Irish whiskey. Words and cajoling aren't working. Time for plan B.
Kentucky produces Bourbon, Tennessee produces Whiskey. I don’t buy either. No words aren’t working, but when their welfare, food stamps and ACA are cut, that’s when they will see and start thinking, hopefully. Education in these states hasn’t been a priority.
Bless your heart! I’m actually a true blue Chicago democrat who relocated to the south last year due to my spouse’s job. BTW, caring about others doesn’t end at state lines.
The point is - red states are destroying our democracy and supporting an oligarchy. It's happening while cowardly GOP elected officials stand by and watch. People in red states voted these lemmings in. Canadians should purchase things from blue states but not red states who voted for this
Americans have a 250 year history of disrespecting the liberty of other countries. Not in the least interested in adopting ANY state at the moment, TYVM.
Do not blame you at all.
While I might enjoy the thought of living in my grandmother’s country of Canada, I think it’s best to stay here and fight the fascist regime.

Union with EU is also plausible.

Meanwhile I found a new job for a well-known parts company that welcomes me, gay and all.
That's the United States we live in. Hate and smile as you hate them.
A lot of folks can't deal with a gay man like me. But it's their problem, not mine.
I just live my life my way.
