Federal prosecutors dropped the case against a Texas doctor who called himself a whistleblower on transgender care for minors and was accused of illegally obtaining private information on patients who weren’t under his care.

This is horrible. He was wrong for what he did and should be prosecuted! But, the convicted President is installing who he believes will blindly follow him at the DOJ. Happy Monday 🫤
And why does it feel like I shouldn't have to explain to him why it's beyond morally reprehensible to develop an opinion about a group he doesn't belong to, based solely on the opinions & blatant lies of ppl who openly hate said group, & who see it as a global conspiracy to destroy western values 🙄
Why was this a federal case? Seems like a one off crime that should not result in a 10 year sentence. Most low level identity thefts are handled at the local level.
The actions of this government since they came in seems to be an open invitation to break laws if your politics align with that of the Republicans. This open disregard for laws is very dangerous.
I think they were quite clear: The dismissal of the case against Dr. Eithan Haim in U.S. district court in Houston comes as the Trump administration in its first week has already issued executive orders rolling back transgender rights.
She posted the literal quote, dude. Did you even read it? “The dismissal of the case against Dr. Eithan Haim in U.S. district court in Houston comes as the Trump administration in its first week has already issued executive orders rolling back transgender rights.”
If you don't recognize that the reason the DoJ, which is part of the executive branch, is dropping enforcement of laws is because Trump (the head of the executive branch) doesn't want them enforced, then I'm not sure what to tell you.
It’s what is happening. Laws do not apply to people who break them to help conservative causes. Be sure to check out why Texas AG Paxton isn’t going to jail whole you’re at it. Turns out, if you’re conservative laws don’t matter anymore. See also the convicted murderer set free by Abbott
Whether the Justice Department drops or pursues any case has very little to do with the law, and everything to do with who is currently in charge of the Justice Department.
They don't *need* to. Who is going to make them? Republicans have made the leap to fascism, they don't have to follow any toothless democratic institutional rules if there isn't any enforcement.
"these charges should not have been brought" is the explanation for this kind of thing. This is how it works with authoritarian regimes. The letter of the law is not important.

At a minimum.
He literally broke the law just bc he's dumb and hateful enough to have been duped by some of the stupidest conspiracy theories ever invented
And as someone who came out BEFORE those lies were invented, I don't know why they're given credence
Jeeezus Freaking Christ the media has gone to shit.
You don't understand how laws work.
Want me to explain why this is fucking stupid
So if you know what the reason isn’t, you must have at least some sense of what it is.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
By the same argument, should gender mod treatment be illegal and a doctor illegally treats that condition, he should also be let free.
Same difference.
Shunned and avoided by all apart from the cultists
Still deserves to be behind bars though
And the Congress is sufficiently spineless enough to let him do it.
The doctors did nothing illegal while treating their patients.
