I guess CSIS is only a politically driven process when the Liberals are in power. Seems Poilievre held a clearance (but not Top Secret) years ago under the Harper Government. He liked having one then. Top Secret level incurs a much higher & thorough scrutiny process which is what he is afraid of.

The rules around security clearances needs to be tightened up. At minimum every party leader must have clearance, but preferably, especially in these times, there shouldn't be anyone at all in the House of Commons and the Senate w/o clearance.

The first top level security clearance requirement was initiated in 1986 by Mulroney and was expanded on in 2014 by Harper. In January it was CSIS who said they could no longer brief Poilievre unless he got vetted and recommended he allow them to start the process

There was a distinct lack of media curiosity when the report on 'Foreign Electoral Interference' was released and PP pointed out that he had not read it, but left it to one of his MP's. His lack of interest in the possibility that it may contain 'attack bait' struck me as curious at the time.
