How about you provide a law that would have prevented this? Either she stole her father's gun to commit this crime, or the gun was a straw purchase. Both of those have laws on the books making those actions illegal. So what other law would have prevented this?

In Germany you have to leave all weapons in a safe and weapons and ammunition have to be stored separately.

Any law that keeps the firearm out of her fathers house in the first place. It is entirely too easy for any untrained individual to purchase a firearm in this country which has led to an overabundance of firearms in this country. Why are we the only country with regular school shootings?

Note that the phrase "less violence" isn't used. The UK has an effective ban on guns, and the violent merely moved on to using knives. China also has a ban, and the tools of choice are knives or motor vehicles.

Seems like restrictions on civil rights don't exactly work.

It's a lot harder to kill large groups of people with a knife than a gun. About half of US gun deaths are suicides too, and guns are far more lethal than other methods.

People can still inflict harm on themselves and others without guns, but that harm is more limited and less lethal.

I should add to the "less guns, less shootings" thing, how many church shootings of the "run amok" type have happened since the dude got domed by a rando in the congregation? I can't really think of any. It's almost like "run amok" style mass shooters pick soft targets.
