Let’s not allow this experience to give us a false sense of security. TikTok could have pushed an alternate reality to their user base had they wanted to.
All media needs regulation.
If you have a college friend from east Asia they will tell you that you shouldn't trust the CCP. Fascism is not just happening only in the US, these dictators are actually all in it together. The whole world is shifting right and people on the left all around the world should unite.
They’re not “loud” about it though. Specifically because they have friends and family still in HK. It’s plausibly dangerous to complain too much about the CCP (unlike the situation in the USA).
