Wow this is truly awful, 18F did such incredible work

18F, the federal government’s technology shop, was just demolished by Musk’s team. It was a cost-recoverable org, charging agencies for their expertise, using a consulting model. Its cost to government was negligible, its benefits huge. My team there once saved DoD $500 million.

I assumed that you double check this with experts and things like that before because I've never heard of this thing before but apparently someone in the government knew and someone in DOGE knew this program existed. You're the first person I've ever heard talk about this

I'm not surprised. I knew someone that worked for the IRS at one time they no longer do and one of the things they told me was that the IRS would use old Windows systems versus the newest technology with old machines. So yeah I believe it

It’s plain as day that 18F and USDS were probably way ahead of the private sector curve, given you can make way more money anywhere else with that skillset. Musk and the Project 2025 gang knew these were the actual efficiency workers on the tech side and just sent BigBalls in because this is a coup.
