You're right. Caregivers have been criminally undervalued, and family caregivers practically ignored. The social safety net was assumed to be the family if you had one. But I'm so upset at dismantling what we do have, I posted without thinking through.

Sanders is currently touring to reach out to critical red districts in a strategic attempt to apply pressure & flip votes to save Medicaid. If we can convince more of our Dem. Senators & Reps to do similar, not only can we reach isolated blues, but we might be able to reach disaffected reds, too.

Maybe we can escalate this up to AOC and Crockett. Get them to shake up the Dems and encourage our Reps to campaign locally. Even supporting Bernie's campaign on a national scale would do a ton of good. The more attention it gets, the better.

What we really needed when my wife was in home hospice was for me to be at home caring for her. But I also needed income and medical coverage. So I worked 30 hrs p/week under FMLA to qualify. I will forever regret losing precious time with her. Our society could do so much better for families.

How are you fighting? What exactly are you doing? I checked and you haven’t introduced a single piece of legislation pertaining to this issue. I’ve been a caregiver to my husband for 14 years. We’re tired of lip service.
