Its even more fascinating given Hollywood, with their story telling chops, has often supported Dems. I wonder if it is disconnect around more basic needs such as security, economic growth etc with parts of the population that makes them automatically doubt anything we say.

Proper DEI means casting the widest net. Then they get more choices to apply merit to. It’s actually more advantageous to companies than applicants. Those who are mid will get filtered out.
