Assisted dying is already available . You do however have to be rich, fly to Switzerland and hope any relatives with you don’t get prosecuted. If you’re poor - tough - prepare to suffer because it keeps the bishops happy.

I hear you, and ideally I think it should be available regardless of means, but I don’t think our current health or welfare service is prepared to manage it responsibly. I worry the standards of hospice and care for disabled/chronically ill and the elderly would get even worse.
Some illnesses are beyond cure and appalling painful. It would be naive to think some gps don’t administer high levels of drugs to alleviate suffering knowing the patent would not survive. We need to show the terminally ill compassion.
