I remember seeing them on Whistle Test playing "Pretty Persuasion" (were they on The Tube too?) and thinking it was really boring! But I was obsessed with the Three Johns and The Fall at the time and wasn't interested in pastoral Americana. Of course, I love Reckoning now...
