Also think about the thousands (or tens of thousands) of authors mainstream publishers won’t handle but KDP will who are going to lose an income or part of an income. You’re hurting all of them, not Bezos.

Most ppl think they’re hurting Bezos, but they’re not. At least KDP Amazon offers authors the opportunity to be published & their books distributed internationally at no cost to them. Boycotting Amazon books hurts authors like us.
I came here to see if anyone mentioned this. I put a few of my books in a local book store but it's very difficult when compared to selling through KDP.
My book is non-fiction w a niche audience. It sells less than 300 copies a yr. It would pretty much die in a local book store. KDP gives me an expansive international base of potential readers I wouldn’t otherwise have locally. Bezos isn’t hurt, authors are when ppl boycott Amazon books.
Best of luck w your manuscript. I first tried w mainstream publishers but after lots of rejections & not wanting to pay crazy prices to self print & distribute, I decided KDP was the best route for me because of print on demand & wide distribution. It wasn’t my 1st choice but it’s worked for me.
Best of luck with your manuscript! I agree with the other poster. KDP provides a much wider audience. I wish I could sell direct on my website but I don't have the resources or time to market as much as would be needed to have it be sustainable. KDP really helped.
