Did you know that when he was assassinated in Memphis in April 1968, he was on his third trip there to support a strike by sanitation workers who were seeking better wages and working conditions?
You may have seen photos of the picket signs those workers carried — a simple but powerful message that could not be denied: I AM A MAN. Today the sanitation workers have a place in our Labor Hall of Honor: https://www.dol.gov/general/aboutdol/hallofhonor/2011_memphis
Happy birthday, Dr. King. We’re grateful for your legacy, and for the courage of every person who has stood up for labor rights and the dignity of work.
I hope you’ll be leading a resurgence of “Alt” government departments continuing to post the truth, leak Trump administration misdoings, and fighting for Justice with the rest of sane American resisters
Thank you for posting this! I hope the U.S. Dept of Labor will continue to follow in MLK's footsteps and support all workers. It seems the income inequality is only going to get worse.
