No disrespect, but this is nonsense. If you can afford to have others cook for you and bring it to your door, that’s fine. But don’t rationalize it with fictional economics. I’m sure your leftovers easily last 3-4 days, but highly unlikely if you’re eating some each day.

When I am not working by day job I am working my side hustle or doing household chores which must be done. Cooking is not one of them, and if I could afford to I wouldn’t do chores either. My free time is very precious because there is not much of it and I HATE cooking.

No one. But that’s not the metric. It’s an opportunity cost. When you work a 10 hour day, aren’t you entitled to some R&R at the end that doesn’t involve cooking and cleaning? It’s called “The Theory of Comparative Advantage” and it’s been a staple of economics since the 1800s

Maybe you should! Isn’t your leisure and relaxation time worth as much - or more - than your work time? We aren’t machines placed on the planet to work until we die. But if you want to be strict, work it out at a nominal hourly rate equal to your salary.

At no point did I assert that it was a right. I’m simply arguing for people to compare like for like. Staying in and cooking at home costs a lot more than we think it does because we never fully cost it.

Like, maybe you prioritize takeout, but you don't pay for streaming services and instead just get books from the library. Or maybe you prioritize takeout but you take public transit because you can't afford takeout+ car insurance.

Like anything else, it can be a priority. But not a right.

Home ec is absolutely still in the curriculum in my district. In fact my SiL teaches it. Going under a different name now (FACS), but she's definitely teaching middle schoolers how to do basic cooking, sewing, budgeting, etc.
