In normal times, the center is, at least, a defensible position. But when your party favors democracy and the other fascism, racism, antisemitism, kidnapping,etc., to meet them halfway still makes you anti-democracy.

I don’t have a problem with what they’re doing at all but acting like they’re gaining any support is stupid. Bernie has always been able to pull crowds like this. These aren’t new people, it’s mostly the same people who have always supported him. Plus crowd size doesn’t equate to votes.
