I love it! I have a probably unusual, but curious question: Are there any directions you get how Ajani's hands are supposed to look like? The other day when I looked for references, I noticed that artists seem to get a lot of freedom there, because there are a lot of variations how they were drawn.

Not really! He has “white” furred hands and black nails, but I chose to give him paw pads which was a liberty I took. I don’t recall my art director commenting on them.

this looks great! how did you get the semi transparent effect on the bright swirling glow? did u use a glaze or another medium or method?

Acrylics are water soluble so I just thinned it with water for the glazes!

You're a big art inspiration, I wanna illustrate a MtG card one day too. 😂
I had no idea that the illustrations were still done with traditional materials! I had this notion that entertainment art was digital because of the high turnover rate 🤔
