And I must say, just one chapter in, I see why the series Ozark was set where it was. What sometimes looked like unlikely lawlessness and casual gun culture strictly to move the plot along is apparently almost de rigueur in the state.

I had to stop watching Ozark in season three, even though I thought it was great and loved the cast, because it felt like doing homework. Too close to what I write about in life!

I can see how that would be. I kept thinking, “Sure seems like all the political maneuvering and (literal) getting away with murder is unrealistic.” Sure see otherwise now. I was born in Chicago, dad chased out so we moved to Ia; I think a lot of nefarious Chi to SL “commerce” passed through there.

I've always said, Mark Burnett INVENTED the character of the jet-setting real estate, successful businessman tycoon & HIRED #DonaldTrump to play him.
Pathological liar #Trump was the exact opposite but Musk helping to flood US with revisionist history convinced many Americans it was true.🙈🙉🙊

Love the audio book, especially when hearing you talk about Adana. When I lived there in early 70s, I remember visiting friends' houses where they had pictures of Attaturk and JFK hanging side by side. Over the past couple of decades, I've often wondered how the turmoil has affected them.
