Nero nodded, taking notes of all the things the Exarch was saying. “I see. So, is it similar to when one’s arm is bound after breaking a bone? When a cast is put over it to prevent it from worsening?”

"Somewhat, yes." It was a bit easier to talk about such things in an academic sense, divorced from the reality of this being the process by which he would eventually cease to be. "But given that the crystal is clear, one can see that aside from facets that show the delineation of where bones and
joints once were, they have entirely disappeared." He smiled a little ruefully, wriggling his crystal fingers. "Cycling aether through the crystal - which is quite conductive, by the way - allows me to continue using my arm and fingers. A bit more clumsily than flesh and blood, but it suffices."
"Mmm, no that isn't quite an apt comparison. You see, the crystal doesn't encase my arm; it replaced it." He held out his crystal arm to allow Nero to see what he meant. And indeed, upon a closer inspection it would become apparent that there indeed was nothing under the crystal any longer.

He makes a note about cycling aether and how conductive it appears to be, nodding to himself.
