He tweeted some chart highlighting “active seconds” I believe (?) but it’s not a metric I’ve ever seen anyone else use and there isn’t a lot of historical context for it. Basically: I’m also skeptical

Anecdotally I’ve seen a 50% increase in new followers in like a month with 2/3 of that coming since Tuesday. So yeah people are def looking for alternatives.

What I think will be interesting is if the influx of new users — and to be more specific, new users that were holdovers who didn’t signup for whatever reason in 2023 or earlier this year, is able to make inactive accounts active again.

I would too — I was super active when it launched and was small but have been much less active over the last 12 months. Def giving it another go now that the people are starting to show up.

Totally. That was a very smart feature that the overall network is able to benefit from as it has actual sustained growth. In past spikes, which from my memory largely occurred before the starter packs, it was hard for new people to find groups to follow whereas Threads had the existing IG graph.
