If it were me and I admittedly mistakenly deported someone to a foreign prison camp I would work to get them back regardless of whether a judge ordered me to. I guess I’m just built different.

That's probably a big part of Trump chose it. Because even if Trump himself genuinely tries to make Bukele return a US prisoner, he won't. Which protects them both.
Yes. Let’s see what happens. It is a direct order by a federal judge. It will be appealed for sure then sent to the Supreme Court. Idk that T has the stupidity to refuse to obey.
It’s nothing that a couple million dollars to El Salvador won’t solve.
I dunno about it being solvable by sending more money, I fear Bukele's need to maintain secrecy may be paramount. But I really hope you're right. Indeed, let's see what happens. The DOJ appeal was already lodged in the middle of the night.
$6m seems expensive! Tinned like sardines, cheap food, hard labour - life expectancy 10yrs? Value of labour likely exceeds costs, except wages for guards. $6 MILLION? To guard 230 men for 10yrs? In the El Salv economy?
Nah. It's not for food, housing or guards' wages. It's for building more CECOTs.
Ultimately, speculation about what the payment is FOR is irrelevant, I know. All that really matters is, can we get these men back, and can we make sure nobody else is ever sent to CECOT from the US?
I'm just kinda flailing in terror at the state of the world honestly.
Agreed. If they were to have housed those inmates in the US, they would've risked having lawyers involved & Dems in Congress visiting. Even the press, maybe.
The logic extends to if it was you they wouldn't have been sent in the first place
It takes a real human shit stain to sell people to a foreign prison for labour

2. The prison has already has sent some people back that they've rejected.
I want the US to do EVERYTHING to get them back.
But nobody has ever been released from CECOT.

Some people thrive on cruelty. He must go!
$6 million seems cheap for housing prisoners. But add work-camp & torture to that & it might be a good deal for the Salvadorians!
The US government just can't risk having those inmates coming back here & snitching!

But beds, food, a communal TV or two, family visits, wages for guards - EVERYTHING about it is miles costlier than CECOT.
CECOT is more like ICE detention. Just cages with shelves. No blankets. No visitors. And El Salva level wages.
I do stand heavily in favor of human rights & when I hear that people who are likely innocent are being abused — it enrages me!
Had it been the Felon47 who was put in prison (as it should've been), I may not have objected as much!

Plus the mistreatment will guarantee he has a legal status in the US and the massive lawsuits for violating his constitutional rights

Most of us are built like you!
Ethics are seen as weak in that biosphere
