Convinced that the AI supporters that always show up in the comments under these posts are actually AI bots because they always use the same arguments. Almost like they are regurgitating them from a word database.

I was definitely seeing this toward the end of my time on Twitter. Most people arguing for reactionary positions seemed to be having bots form their arguments, resulting in a surreal disconnect between their writing quality and apparent reading comprehension.
Never used twitter, but I've seen plenty of that here too. Regurgitated dime a dozen "gotcha" responses that, somehow, not at all related to anything else in the discussion
My response is, and always will be, “only ever let it write the first draft”. By its nature, an LLM quite literally can never be smarter or more creative than the person writing the prompt. Only a real human touch can turn a draft into a masterpiece. Anyone who lets it do ALL the work is just lazy.
I would argue against even doing the first draft since, personally, I always find that to be part of the practice as well. Learning HOW to work a first draft, edit yourself along the way, explore themes early on, all that stuff that is just as important to learning how to master your craft.
That’s fair. I occasionally use them to give me a basic framework, but I also care a lot about improving my own skills, so my habit is to change things according to my own judgement and to not stop editing until it really feels like it’s my own. Anything less than that would feel inexcusably lazy.
I get the like "What if any facts do you have to support your stance?" kind of replies. Honey I'm not going to discuss the details of my last two years of career hell to what is probably a hand puppet run by a bot, or else somebody too far gone to be reached.
