They were happier because he made hating those that weren’t white or male “acceptable”. They no longer had to hide or make excuses for their hatred since they could point to the President and say that if he does it, it is OK for the rest of us to do it.

If people aren't happy in the next election, the country will swing left. Voting people out is how the public shows their frustration. Inflation is making voters force leaders out of office all over the world. Biden's policies are helping the economy, but it will take time for people to feel it.

I hope you are right … but I’m not so sure. There is such a strong sphere of mis- and dis-information that it is easy for MAGA to keep the identity politics raging to get out their vote. This time plenty of people were willing to vote for Trump when it could harm them (latino voters, women, etc.).

Biden is the only one, right or left to beat Trump. He did it only because there was a crisis (Covid) and he said he’d get us through it. Our immediate problems are most important. Trump is now in that position with inflation and Gaza. Dems should know that identity politics is always secondary.

I'm a black and voted for Harris, and I disagree. Trump didn't win against Biden, and it was because of Covid. Biden could have been almost anybody. If people aren't happy with the country when it's time to vote, they choose the other party. If it was only about racism, Trump would have won.

I’m not so sure that it was about COVID and not so sure anybody but Biden could have won. It could be that COVID brought out the extra 8-10 million voters that made Biden win, but when we don’t have that as a motivator and those 8-10 million don’t come out to vote, then we end up with Trump.

Dems made mistakes. Harris had enthusiasm, a great debate and a feel-good campaign at first. People want that. The campaign turned to constant fear of Trump and focusing on reproductive rights in the 2nd half, and they lost that enthusiasm. Her proud 100% support for Israel lost Arab Americans.

There’s always a motivator, Dems just ignore it and focus on whatever issues are most important to them. Harris made abortion rights a focus, but people care way more about high prices. Interviewed voters said for years that inflation was their top issue. Dems didn’t listen.

How can anyone look back at Trump’s first term and think “gee I was so happy then”? It was chaos, fear and death on a daily basis. Over 1MM of us didn’t make it through
