Any which way, Adams is up for re-election this year...if he wins the Democratic nod which I don't think he will. But even if the Democrats want to cut their own throat and nominate him, he is tremendously unpopular in NYC and will lose the election by staggering numbers. Even if elmo steps in.

I don't think so. The Judge is supposed to be impartial, and doesn't have that power.

Can you imagine being brought on charges, being brought before a Judge and that Judge deciding who your Prosecutor is?

Haven’t practiced much crim law, but have seen judges appoint defense counsel outside of the usual PD system. That doesn’t affect his impartiality. But probably other issues here that might involve bar complaints. Seems like there’ll be fallout
