Very cool article José!!! I first learned about it on the Google blog post and thought: weird, this sounds like José's work, why would Google work on PICIs?! And indeed! Must have been fun to have early access to this :-) (a bit jealous)

after reading I cannot help but feel you are giving the AI too much credit, what it suggests was mostly laid out in your prior work that you gave it- To me the list of suggestions by the AI reads like a laundry list of half-baked ideas - and as it tells us, very influenced by the prompt!

In particular, to me the coolest part of the new preprint is that the cf-PICIs form *tailless extracellular particles* - I thought the assembly w/ the tail would happen intracellularly in infected cells.

But the AI doesn't suggest this creative solution, or even seem to get close?

Note that the system suggested to look at the adaptor and connector proteins, which are definitely the key players in tail compatibility. It also suggested to look at conjugation, which is something we never thought about it.
You are right in the idea that the system doesn’t explain everything.
