Next year will be another replenishment for the Global Fund which is critical to continue to fight TB as well as HIV and Malaria. Given the environment we find ourselves, advocacy is going to be critical to continue this life-saving work.

It’s really interesting for me having moved to the UK from the US how big of an issue bovine tb is as well! A big issue for the agriculture industry and even for human health, especially in rural less developed countries.

Do not feel dumb. It is mostly eradicated in rich countries, and it is absolutely insane that it is still the leading infectious disease killer in the world when we've known how to cure it since the 1950s.

I'd spend 25 billion dollars a year on comprehensive TB care--which is how we reduced TB by 99% in the U.S. We know how to do this; we've just never had the money to do it. You do active case-finding; you treat sick people; and you give their close contacts preventive therapy so they don't get sick.

on the one hand its a lot of money but on the other thats absolutely nothing. I can't imagine being a billionaire, seeing this in front of you as an option and not just deciding "I'm going to be the guy who beat TB" if you had as many billions as they do

I appreciate all the educating you do for TB. I'm a medical laboratory scientist in the U.S. and perform acid fast testing, most of them being negative or positive for non-TB Mycobacteria and it's SO easy to feel disconnected from the true impact TB has on the world. Looking forward to your book!
