Get a pistol if you're comfortable concealed carrying.

I recommend a light and red dot, but the most important thing is actually training with it and knowing how to use it. It's a tool, not a mystical ward.

I will say you the best thing for me has been networking locally and exposing others to ideas they may not be exposed to otherwise. Chances are there are people close to you with similar thoughts on the government! It's a great way to get your foot in the door.
