Everyone has "an ism" of some sort--from ultra mild to the extreme. So, no, mental health is nothing to be embarrassed about.
Lack of compassion and lack of the willingness to understand and accept ppl for who they are, IS a problem in today's society.
We need to change that, starting with oneself.
I am diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder. With the help of modern medications, I am able to be "normal", whatever that is. I could not function without my medications. It's taken over 20 years to get to this point but it also makes me who I am.
We’re not responsible for the trauma our parents inflicted upon us, or their parents on them, but we are responsible for seeking help and doing the work to make us healthy.
This is so we don’t continue the pattern of trauma.
It takes a warrior mentality & tremendous strength to fight this battle.
Yes! I have come to a place of understanding and gratitude for everything and everyone in my life. I’ve finally found peace, through forgiveness, honest self reflection, love, empathy and the hardest work I’ve ever done. And I keep trying. Every single day. ❤️
Yes it sure is! When I began working on change, it was a constant effort just to be kind to myself. If I can get here, so can others. Thank you for putting yourself out there with me. ✊🇨🇦 Elbows Up! Never 51! I was born for this fight. Stay strong.
Sadly, I find myself deeply ashamed at showing any signs of mental health. The tradition of insanity has planted deep roots in my family tree, and I hate imagining I've let my ancestors down.
I think that depends on who's doing the measuring and how. I believe the answer to what you actually want to know is, "Yes." I'm sane enough to be stressed out by the state of the world, but if I had a few million dollars to my name, I'd be classified as a "harmless eccentric".

If I may take the liberty to give a more elaborate diagnostic evaluation, since you’re spot on. “Malignantly cruel narcissistic amoral nihilistic sociopathic asshole”.
I needed to see this today. Very much appreciated. Happy to share!! I deal with CPTSD and it’s important to be reminded how important our mental health and self care. 💕🦋
Have you heard of The Crappy Childhood Fairy? She’s on YT and quite effective.
Also if you were raised by narcissists, Dr Ramani & Dr Les Carter are amazing sources- also on YT.
Good luck.🥰
I started with Dr Carter then Dr R- then CCF.
I had no idea my problem was my narcissist parents.
30 years of therapy, 20 of medications.
Understand the source of the problem and that’s where the real progress begins.
It’s hard work & the most important part is to convince yourself you’re worth it.
I may or may not be crazy asf but not going to share ammunition for them to lock me up and deny my civil rights on a platform they are monitoring looking for enemies and political dissidents to get rid of.
I will not only share this, I will admit that I am not ashamed of my mental health issues, including wartime PTSD, substance abuse disorder (10 years sober), and Major Depressive Disorder. Even with these mental health conditions that I work on daily, I am a functioning member of society.
Thank you for your service. My late husband had severe depression and found photography was a release as he didn’t like antidepressants. There is no shame in something you don’t have much control over. Be proud of all you’ve accomplished. Hugz from Ohio
Wow, thank you for this. Hugely supportive and I appreciate every word you said. So sorry for your loss. I’m so happy your husband found photography, I too love photography, but I’m not any good at it!

Shouldn't it be "Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of" or "emotional insecurity is nothing to be ashamed of"?
😉👍💙

I think the most difficult hurdle to overcome is convincing ourselves we’re worth the effort to even begin to work.
Know, that there are people we don’t even know who are in our corner, rooting for us.
The success of one is the success for all.
