This is the Heart Nebula, 7500 light-years distant. The image represents a 5-hour total exposure (9/29/2024) from my backyard. This is an emission nebula, glowing ionized hydrogen gas excited by a group of hot stars near the center. The shape is driven by the stellar winds of those core stars.
