I've incidentally been sucked down the F1 youtube rabbit hole by watching a couple videos where F1 cars crash and i think it's genuinely crazy how fragile F1 cars are??

Like Nascar you could scrape two cars against each other for 30 damn laps and suffer like a .2% loss in aerodynamics meanwhile F1 cars touch the slightest bit of another car and suddenly all four wheels are sideways, the front bit's torn and the spoiler's ripped in half somehow
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that F1 is bad or whatever. I'm 100% sure it's some physics thing and the way that it's designed is 1000% designed for speed and shit, I just think "Wow that's unsafe" as a stupid outsider lmao
Well, mostly but there were some concerns. Alonso’s in Australia is maybe the best in terms of total destruction beyond the cockpit and yet he basically walked away. Both a testament to doing your best to make something unsafe safer—considering it looked very possible each was dead. Yet, I watch
Also the cars are largely taken apart and put together again each race. They break the way they are meant to. It just looks terrifying most of the time (knock on everything for luck) Stock cars just don’t carry anywhere near the downforce either
Exactly. The car comes apart but it’s he capsule or cockpit is intact. As for road cars, I was in a horrible wreck about 20 years ago that shook anyone who knew me and saw the car. But it did exactly what it should and needed to do to protect me with only seatbelt bruises and pulled muscles.

Also nascar is boring lol
I love nascar too though, but it's hard to get into
And in F1 you have a lot of other safety features like the HANS device and the halo so that fatalities are minimized.
