I left the church many years ago, but I still have faith. The Bible says by their fruits you will know them. If people read just the words of Jesus since he came to fulfill the law the world would be a wonderful place. That is not a thing in Christian fundamentalism. I hope this makes sense.

Trying to find a church that promotes the actual teachings of Christ is difficult. Jesus was a man that gave up wealth to serve the marginalized and urged others to do so. He would not recognize todays church leaders as disciples of his teachings that live lives in contradiction to those teachings

As a Christian I find it very disturbing to reflect on why so many US Christians support Trump.
Our congregation here in the UK is vibrant and thriving. On Easter Sunday I was one of five baptized, including two teens.

The word "Christian" is now tainted for the reasons you mention in your article. I suggest that those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus refer to themselves as "Yeshuans." Yeshua was his Hebrew name. Jesus is the Greek translation, since the NT was written in Greek.

I have known circus performers & clowns. They're dedicated to their craft/art; they've worked hard to learn their skills/expertise. And when they fuck up, it could lead to injuries or worse.

I looked around at the adults in church and they were the worst thing I could ever be. A lot of what they told me were the teachings of Christ made sense to me, and still do. It’s just how decent people should live. Churches in the south aren’t filled with decent people.
