Orgs should assume all public facing distributions...are public. Orgs need to up their opsec generally. If something is going out to your mailing list that could lead to people being put in danger, etc then reconsider hitting send. There will always be interested parties doing osint on opposition.

We already do that. But we also have to be realistic about how we mobilize folks for action. There’s this expectation that orgs must be perfect in “doing something” while also maintaining airtight security—it’s a tough balance.

We’ve put in the work to make sure our security isn’t compromised.

What we put out publicly is already being monitored, but at least we’re not making it easier by handing it straight to their inboxes. A lot of these signups come from well-meaning folks trying to “stick it to the man,” but in reality, it just makes our jobs harder.

Serious suggestion - do not use electronic messaging of any sort for any kind of planning or coordination unless absolutely unavoidable. Digital footprints are not hard to trace.

Yes, it slows things down, but security is paramount.
