have you tried pokken?
it's just tekken but with pokemon, and it's pretty easy once you learn the basics but still has a high skill ceiling, so maybe you'd find or more enjoyable
My earliest Tekken memory was playing T3 and getting caught in two full grab chains by CPU-controlled King and not landing a single hit on him. Good times.
