There are levels. We don’t have to find commonality with “Ultra MAGAs” and groypers. The people who genuinely regret their vote, OTOH…

The other mindfuck to deal with meeting them where they are is it implies we ALL have a capacity to become monsters if we aren’t locked in. See COVID as a dry run.

I don’t know how any of us avoid the mental shift though. Somehow I have to make peace with the fact that some of the newest members of the coalition voted for the guy who wants to send me to a concentration camp. We don’t have to be best friends, but even the thought that they’re in the tent… damn.

The onus is on the regretful MAGA to reach out. We can have the conversations about actual, reasonable economic policies, but I'm not chasing after them. They need to do some inner work. They knowingly threw their wives, sisters and daughters under the bus.

That’s fine, but what happens when they reach out or make a general plea for acceptance? Who will engage them? What are their entry points and what does rehabilitation look like?

If we leave it entirely up to them there’s a much greater chance they’ll fall right back into MAGA land

If they reach out with some mea culpa or regrets I'm prepared to work with them. If their plea for acceptance is prefaced with the same 'anti-liberal', anti-'identity' hostility, then I'll have to delegate to someone else.
