Some good news to start the year: As of Dec. 9th, preliminary numbers from the Medical Examiner’s office show at least a 25% reduction in opioid overdose deaths in Palm Beach County in 2024 compared to the previous year.

I am trying to convince anyone with a bigger platform on the left to talk to me in order to have a very important discussion about what the right wing (potentially FA) are doing on YouTube. Sadly my success rate is0, which sucks cause I have a bad feeling after 20th of Jan we will not get much help.
In WV the OD rates are down as well . They are attributing this to the increased availability of Narcan, some says its medical marijuana legalization . Regardless they are changing their thoughts on the SSP / NEP programs and may reallocate funding to a few counties
I know. I am one of the millions with excruciating chronic pain over 30 yrs. I never took an opioid until I was 58. Failed neck and back surgeries. It helped. In 2016 I was cold turkeyed off Percocet and Klonopin. I had real panic attacks. We were cut off to support Suboxone that does not work
Could be because they are dying off or because fewer are taking drugs or because of narcan. I read stories about people quitting drinking. Maybe the same thing is happening with drugs.,
That's great, but how do public health experts distinguish between changes in behavior, better emergency-care treatments, lower lethality of the street drug supply, etc... and sheer attrition?
I suspect it's a variable or two too far to secure the victory of a solid answer, like an opioid-crisis expert's version of the Battle of Market Garden.
I argued with an ER doctor years ago. 2 days after being rear ended at a stop light, extreme pain set in. After a long wait & a brief visit, he offered an opioid. When I said no, he said isn’t that why you are here. Well, an IV NSAID did the trick. We have to challenge doctors. No side effects.
Take Naloxone spray w/me (an MD) nearly everywhere. Army hospital provided staff training and spray. Needs to be at least as available as AEDs. PLEASE get it from pharmacy for purse/ fanny pack & non-judgmentally providing to your teens to carry. May save a friend’s life. Thank You!🕊️
