For an hour podcast, maybe 1.5 hours of raw, editing and production, what counts as reasonable?

for a Standard kinda Talking podcast. no need for SFX or Scoring outside of say intro Outro Music or things of that nature I usually say 25 an hour of labor. so hour podcasts like that are usually like 1.5 hours labor depending on the Audio quality and such.

I've seen other people charge a flat like $150 an episode regardless of the type of show or presumed amount of time it would take and that seemed egregious to me when I can theoretically do a pretty quick job on a straightforward kind of show.

My project is still early stages, and I was planning on doing a first pass edit with Descript (because I'm awkward af and wanna edit down/out all my pauses and mistakes before anyone hears it 😅). But I'm bookmarking this to come back to you when I have some eps ready for a final audio edit!

I use Audacity actually. I have access to a Licensed music Library and Open License SFX.

I come from a Music Background and we always worked Analog on a Board and I worked a little with PT. Audacity I find is a nice middle. plus the UI looks like windows 95 and it pleases me.

But from Audio Dramas with full SFX and Scoring to Talk Podcasts, to several albums previous life, it turns out im pretty good at this stuff? learning into is since Kitchen work is too dangerous.

but I might be misunderstanding completely. If you have the Music from Reaper like the Audio I can use it for sure. but I dont have a reaper license myself.

fwiw reaper is nagware! Which isn't to say you should use it professionally without paying, but if you ever get reaper files you can't open the full software is available forever with a 5s reminder on startup after 30 days so you can convert it

I’ve used both. I’m looking for help fixing and finishing a project that was started in Reaper and could be converted to Audacity but it would probably be more effort. But I will probably follow up with you after this trip. Help needed editing a cappella polyphony.
