I think David is using the OpenVibe client, could be a difference in how the message is formatted.

I've noticed the same thing for links that come over the bridge from the fedi.

It's already there, it just doesn't appear if you post the YouTube link immediately after it's created before the embed link preview is available from YouTube. This affects others sites as well and isn't a Bluesky specific issue as far as I can tell.

if you paste the link directly into bluesky it embeds a video player (and you can even remove the link afterwards), I think this is more an issue with Openvibe. bsky doesn't detect links, presumably so you can choose to include the card or not when you paste it in

hmm weird. I've gotten this same behavior of the link preview not showing when posting to reddit so maybe it is client specific. Regardless, it's definitely annoying since it kills reach on the post. Hope they fix it
