Welp, this one is the most famous, I assume - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacksaw_Ridge - but I doubt it was indicative of most others. My dad was a skinny teen conscientious objector who they made a medic; but he did carry a gun, at least after awhile (I think maybe he started without? It's unclear.)

My granddad was in the northern Pacific in WWII, but I don't personally know any SDA people who were in Vietnam. I'd imagine that CO status was pretty standard for them, but idk

Probably? His brother didn't go/get drafted (juvenile diabetic), but he went partly because he had to - and stayed after getting badly wounded for the college/healthcare opportunities which he wouldn't have had otherwise (his family was pretty poor).
